SPE ATCE 2025 ran 6-8 October at the George R. Brown in Houston. Three days. The reported numbers were strong — 5,300+ professionals from 62 countries with 150+ exhibitors, a 25% YoY growth on the 2024 edition.
What was on the technical programme
ATCE consistently runs ~600 technical paper sessions across:
- Reservoir characterisation (where EarthScan plays directly)
- Drilling + completions
- Production operations
- Reservoir engineering
- HSE + sustainability
- Digital + AI/ML (a dedicated track since 2022)
The 2025 AI/ML track had ~80 sessions across the three days.
EarthScan presence
M Quamer Nassim presented an extension of the VeerNet production deployment results — specifically the operator-side calibration step that takes the generic VeerNet model and fine-tunes it on a specific operator's archive. Numbers came in better than the IEEE TGRS 2022 paper baselines on real operator data (we'll publish the formal write-up in a follow-up paper).
Why ATCE matters
ATCE is the can't-skip event of the petroleum engineering year. It's where multi-year operator partnerships get scoped over booth-side coffees. EarthScan will be back stronger in 2026 with a permanent booth presence.
