KIOGE 2026 runs 30 September - 2 October at Atakent in Almaty. Three days. The premier Central Asian oil & gas event, anchored by KazMunayGas (Kazakhstan's NOC) and attended by Caspian basin operators, regional service companies, and an increasingly diverse roster of Western technology vendors.
Why Central Asia matters
- Tengiz, Kashagan, Karachaganak — three world-class reservoirs with combined production rivalling mid-tier Middle Eastern producers
- AI/ML adoption in Central Asian operators is strikingly uneven — KazMunayGas is investing heavily; smaller operators are several years behind
- Talent gap is acute — local geoscience workforce is shrinking as the industry's brand attractiveness erodes
- Pre-built AI tooling (like EarthScan) is particularly valuable here for the same reason it's valuable in the GCC: bridge the talent gap with productisation
What we'll watch
- KazMunayGas digital strategy announcements
- Tengizchevroil + NCOC technical sessions
- Russian operator presence — Lukoil, Rosneft activity has shifted post-2022 sanctions; KIOGE is a barometer
- Chinese-Kazakh JV announcements — CNPC + CNOOC partnership trends
EarthScan presence
We don't yet have Central Asian operator partnerships. KIOGE is where we'd ideally have first conversations — possibly via mutual contacts at TPAO (Türkiye, Sprint relationship) or via the Kazakhstan operator engineering community we have research-paper relationships with.
